At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role - HVAC Power Technician is $26.22 (Break in rates and $0.75 cents differential pay from 6PM - 5:59AM applies).
General Summary:
The HVAC Power Technician is responsible for performing installs, repairs, and maintenance to a variety of equipment including air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, And split systems.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Inspect, repair, modify, and install HVAC equipment.
- Basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs, service, and repair evaporative coolers.
- Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high-limit controls, pressure controls.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torches, vacuum pumps, and test equipment utilized in the trade and a motor vehicle; maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory.
- Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation, and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors, and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.
- Particle Testing Reporting.
- Replacement of VFD’s.
- Operate all plant HVAC systems listed above and support all production processes as required.
- Work in a team-based environment with shared responsibility across shifts for the upkeep and operation of the plant utility systems.
- Operate systems as efficiently and safely as possible.
- Promptly respond to equipment failures or downtime.
- Work with vendors and engineers on improvement, optimization, and expansion projects
- Communicate with operators and production team members about any work that may affect production.
- Complete APSM training, E-talent training, and any other training in a timely manner.
- HAZMAT team responder.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.
- Wear proper PPE and follow all safety procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade.
- Theory of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Materials, methods, and tools used in the operation and repair of HVAC.
- Pneumatic controls.
- Cooling tower
- Manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to HVAC.
- Welding and soldering techniques.
- Basic record-keeping techniques.
- Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Able to operate 1055 forklift.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
- Proficient electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work independently.
Working Relationships:
- This position reports to the Maintenance Department Manager or a Supervisor.
- This position will regularly interact with other production and support group supervisors. Regular interaction with other plant management.
