For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Processing Team Member I.

 

This position pays $21.35 per hour. There is an additional $1 differential for hours worked between 6pm and 6am. Weekly pay. 

 

Summary Description: 

The Processing Team Member I is responsible for the safe operation of the associated equipment and/or processes, the quality of incoming raw materials, the quality of the outgoing products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safe work practices.  This position is also responsible for maintaining 5S standards, and participating in and implementing continuous improvement.

The Processing General Labor position is also responsible to bulk on/off cheese, monitor high speed scale operations, fold bags, rework and redice, support box and label room, and perform general housekeeping duties. 

 

All other duties as assigned.

Job Duties (Accountability Categories and Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities):

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in relaying information to team members, team leads, supervisors, and managers as applicable.
  • Must be able to lift moderate weights repeatedly throughout the shift.  The position holder is also required to stand/walk throughout the shift and must have the ability to work in hot, humid, and cold areas.
  • Must be able to work overtime and holidays when required. The operator must be able to read/write and perform basic arithmetic in order to understand the S.O.P.’s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safe work practices.
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies.
  • Complete assigned GMP and housekeeping duties.  Maintain 5S standards.
  • Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct
  • Operational readings for all data recorded and actions to be taken if outside normal operations.
  • This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies.
  • Complete paperwork accurately.  Know and understand the normal operational readings for all data recorded and actions to be taken if outside normal operations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language
  • Ability to evaluate equipment and processes to make adjustments or corrective action as necessary
  • Ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs
  • Perform basic math
  • Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices
  • Ability to maintain a clean work area according to good manufacturing processes
  • Good communication skills to communicate with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Six months of work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience in machine operation and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience with shift work

 

Work Environment Description:

  • This position will be exposed to working in a wet/slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature
  • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds
  • Frequent walking and standing
  • Climbing up stairs/ladders, bending and reaching will be required
