LUB Warehouse Forklift Mechanic

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Warehouse Forklift Mechanic.

This position pays $36 per hour. There is an additional $1 differential for hours worked between 6pm and 6am. Weekly pay. 

Summary Description:

Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment such as forklifts, walkie stackers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, dock and warehouse mechanical equipment.

 

All other duties as assigned.

Job Duties (Accountability Categories and Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities):

  • At all times, operate in a manner consistent with safe operating procedures.
  • Perform routine, emergency, and preventative maintenance of forklifts.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to operate any other related power equipment.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance and repairs needed.
  • Troubleshoot forklift problems including brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.
  • Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.
  • Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.
  • Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs.
  • Reassemble forklifts and make all necessary adjustments for effective and safe operation.
  • Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.
  • Cleaning of equipment and other areas as required.
  • Ensure the work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
  • Maintain an organized and neat work area.
  • Complete legible service documents and logs for preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Direct interaction with Managers and cooperates in root cause investigations, brainstorming, and corrective action.
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse SOPs
  • Able to handle high stress and fast paced environment.
  • Able to make calculated decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisory staff.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory GMPs.
  • Comply with corporate rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Coordinate with other interplant departments to ensure all industrial material handling equipment is operational.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience: 2 years of experience required as a mechanic
  • Must demonstrate autonomy - the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
